Forty years is a milestone.  Once referred to as “over the hill,” 40 is the new 30 - just ask any 39 year-old.

Haircolor and mid-life crisis sports cars aside, one of America’s favorite late night comedy skit shows has turned 40.  In fact, it’s probably America’s only late night comedy skit show that has withstood the test of time.  If you were born in the early to late 1970’s, you grew up begging your parents to let you stay up late to watch the edgy show called Saturday Night Live.  The format was like none other: live television, with a new celebrity and band every week!  Pop culture hadn’t seen anything like it since the burgeoning of television ushered in by Sid Caesar Show of Shows.

Trends, humor and fashion changed with each new cast.  The 70’s were a playground for the talents of Dan Aykroyd, Chevy Chase, Jane Curtin and Gilda Radner.  The 80’s highlighted a cast of pop culture personalities brought forth by cable and immortalized by Dana Carvey’s presidential impersonations and Jan Hook’s spot on televangelist characterization of Tammy Faye Baker. The 90’s cultivated talented writers and actors that went on to have successful movie careers like Mike Myers and Adam Sandler.  And as the new millennium emerged, so did a talented cast of female writers and actresses; Tina Fey, Kristen Wiig and Amy Poehler have become mainstream mainstays in television, film and award shows.

Looking back at your favorite skits on YouTube, brings back that warm, fuzzy feeling you got the first time you time you actually “got” an adult joke.  Why not take this anniversary to immortalize your favorite catchphrase, character or cast year with a custom t-shirt?

Think about the looks you’d get with a “Superstar!” printed in plaid, to tell the world that you love Mary Catherine Gallagher and you’re not afraid to show it.  Browse through the clip art to find a cat that looks like Toonses to wear the next time you go to the DMV - or

put it on a piece of pet apparel!   Or check out our collegiate templates to design your own Spartan cheerleader athletic apparel. After all, we’re the only t-shirt company that really . . . “gets it” . . . expect for that Kanye performance.  Go back to L.A. Yezus.

Whooptee has it all; make your piece of pop culture and start designing at Whooptee.com!
